Onwards to Newfoundland!

June 18 -20; 3800km, not including the ferry's distance.

Stayed the night just outside of Truro and woke up to see this guy outside our hotel. We didn't realize that stayed in a First Nations community. We went to the museum next door. A very chatty Mohawk from Brantford took our money and told us everything about her life.
Interesting museum.

Stopped at the Alexander Graham Bell Museum. Very interesting and inspiring museum. The building and the display are very cool, despite the 'simple' photograph.

The glass on the windows is etched with Bell's drawings. Him and his wife were incredible people.

Lupines! Not sure if there are any in Newfoundland.

Finally, the ferry! This time we got on!

This guy apparently, didn't. A little hard to see, but between the dark rectangle and the truck, there is a white pick-up truck. This guy was first in line. He probably got there realy early and went to the pub for a drink...we were a few cars behind and after waiting and paging the owner, traffic was diverted around the truck. He probably woke up somewhere real confused about what happened to him.
It looks like there is a lot of action at the ferry. the after we arrived, police arrested a NS man with an arsenal of weapon that apparently was on his way to Corner Brook NL to kill some cops...

Our little deluxe cabin. It was a good idea to get the cabin, since this was a night crossing and we planned to drive most of the next day, but I couldn't fall asleep at all. Oh well, we had to get up at 4am anyway.

Getting ready to leave the ferry. The motorcycles are untied (they are tied up with special straps)

The ramp is down.

...and we're off. The sun is rising. Stopped for a Tim's and we are ready to explore Newfoundland!

Proof that we are in Newfoundland. A truck full of lobster traps got of the ferry with us and is chugging along making it's way north west.

First signs of wildlife. Five ducks for a buck...

The scenery is changing constantly. Mountains, fishing coves, sun, rain.

Next stop: Port Aux Chois and L'Anse Aux Meadows! Only 700 km to go!
